ASV Viper
ASV Viper is a next-generation autonomous surface vessel (ASV) in Leeway Marine’s Serpent Class, designed for fully uncrewed and self-directed marine operations.
AUTONOMOUS OPERATIONS
ASV Viper is powered by MarineAI’s GuardianAI, a full-stack autonomy engine that enables self-guided navigation, real-time environmental awareness, and mission execution with no operator input. Key capabilities include:
- Autonomous COLREG-compliant navigation
- Self-monitoring of system and environmental conditions
- Onboard decision-making using multi-sensor data fusion
- Full operational continuity in low-connectivity zones
- Multi-vessel coordination for collaborative deployments
The vessel is capable of independent route planning, vessel avoidance, and adaptive responses in dynamic ocean conditions—ensuring safety, efficiency, and mission reliability without human intervention.
MISSION CAPABILITIES
With its configurable payload bay and quick-swap keel system, ASV Viper supports a wide variety of autonomous applications:
- Hydrographic & Geophysical Surveys
- Environmental & Oceanographic Monitoring
- Port & Coastal Infrastructure Inspection
- Offshore Wind & Subsea Cable Surveys
- Arctic Ice Observation & Navigation
- Fisheries Research
- Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance
Payload bay capacity of 750 kg and a sensor-optimized keel (1.65 m below the waterline) support mutibeam sonars, sub0bottom profilers, sidescan sonars, magnetometers, ADCPs, EI/OR cameras and more.
COMMUNICATIONS & DATA
Though fully autonomous, ASV Viper offers robust data streaming and monitoring features:
- Starlink Marine (High-Performance)
- 4G/5G Cellular Connectivity
- Iridium Satellite Communications
These allow for post-mission analysis, health status reporting, and data retrieval—while mission execution remains fully autonomous.
LOGISTICS & DEPLOYMENT
- Containerized transport in a 40 ft high-cube container
- Air-transportable and globally deployable
- Modular payload bay and keel enable rapid configuration
BUILT FOR AUTONOMY
Unlike traditional USVs, ASV Viper is autonomous by design, with remote capability as a back-up. Every component, from propulsion to data processing, is optimized for independent operation. With no onboard crew, the vessel delivers scalable, intelligent marine capability wherever it’s needed.
As the first member of Leeway Marine’s Serpent Class, ASV Viper represents the future of autonomous marine systems—empowering science, infrastructure, and industry through intelligent, self-reliant technology.
